Submitted to FOCUS – The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation welcomed the Wisconsin-based Marshfield Clinic Health System to its growing new Patient Care Network, one of the organization’s key response to the addiction crisis.

“The Marshfield Clinic Health System is widely recognized for its world-class care and commitment to excellence, making it an important addition to our Patient Care Network,” said Bob Poznanovich, executive director of business development and community outreach for the national nonprofit addiction treatment provider Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. “As we strive together to address the nation’s opioid epidemic and the broader problem of addiction to all substances, we will benefit from each other’s dedication to research, education and improving the health of individuals, families and communities.”

The Marshfield Clinic Health System is the eighth member of the Hazelden Betty Ford Patient Care Network – the first of its kind in the addiction treatment industry – that launched this fall. Network members from across the nation gain access to tools, resources and collaborative consultation for their organization’s leadership, staff, patients, families and communities.

“Too many of our patients, families and entire communities have been devastated by opioids and other substance use,” said Dr. Susan Turney, CEO of the Marshfield Clinic Health System. “We are proud to join forces with a national leader in addiction treatment to help the communities we serve combat this crisis.”

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has been a participating provider with the Marshfield Clinic Health System’s Security Health Plan since 2013, which has helped patients who need to move from one level of care to the next within the two organization’s continuums. The addition of Marshfield Clinic Health System to the Hazelden Betty Ford Patient Care Network further strengthens that relationship.

“The opioid epidemic demands immediate attention and requires that individuals and organizations come together to address it,” said Sheila Weix, director of substance abuse services for Marshfield Clinic’s Family Health Center. “We are excited about the positive impact we can make collaborating with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.”

Poznanovich said the new relationship will benefit both organizations’ patients, allowing seamless access to care throughout the sometimes long path to recovery. “This will improve patient engagement and ultimately outcomes,” he said.

The Hazelden Betty Ford Patient Care Network was launched in response to the nation’s opioid crisis, which has placed added pressures on individuals, families and communities. To learn more, visit www.hazeldenbettyford.org/professionals/patient-care-network.
