Columbus Dons Hosted Wild Rose in First Round of State Volleyball

by Malachi David – The Columbus Dons hosted Wild Rose in the first round of the State Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night.

Columbus was dominant throughout the entire match as they won the first and only three games.

The Dons used a great service game to control the tempo. They served the ball 66 times with 59 of those being in play. They also piled up 12 aces. Annie Baierl led the team with six of those aces. Katie Hall added two aces and did not miss any of her 18 serves.

Columbus was also very active in terms of kills. Kate Turchi and Makenzie Hansen each had five kills. Maren Seefluth added another 10 kills. Leading the team with 12 kills was Jessica Jakopin.

The Dons won by scores of 25-7, 25-12, and 25-14.
Columbus will play against Pittsville on Thursday at 7 p.m.
