Town of Rock Committee Invites Experts for Town Discussion on Frac Sand Mine

An information meeting was held in the Town of Rock on Thursday, August 30, 2018 regarding the proposed Coulee Frac Sand Mine.

Roberta Walls, the Wisconsin DNR Industrial Sand Mining Coordinator, and Shane Wucherpfennig, Wood County Conservationist, presented at the meeting on topics related to land conservation and reclamation. Afterwards, the presenters fielded questions from a packed room about air and water quality, wildlife displacement, truck traffic, noise levels, regulatory authority and how non-compliance would be addressed.

The meeting was for information only and no governmental action was taken. The public is welcome to attend the Town of Rock Ad Hoc committee meetings at 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays on September 5, 10, 12, and 17 at the Town Hall.
