Branden Bodendorfer recaps the top stories OnFocus.
#5 City Hall is scheduled to move to its new location (in the former Forward Financial building) this September.
#4 Marshfield’s new Director of Development Services is a familiar face. Longtime Marshfield City Planner Josh Miller was appointed to the top gig during Tuesday’s Common Council meeting. Josh fills the role left vacant by Jason Angell, who resigned last month. Congrats, Josh!
#3 FOCUS will be doing extensive election coverage for this spring’s election, and we want to help your voice be heard! Our first election poll featured the Wheel Tax discussion that is currently taking place in the City. Vote “yes” or “no” for this tax on FOCUS’ website or Facebook page.
#2 Wenzel Family Plaza hopes to open this summer, but programming for the plaza has not yet been established. The Economic Development Board met this week to discuss funding, but as of now, no programming plan has been presented.
And our number 1 story of the week. On August 5th, 2017, 21-year-old Tyler Manthe was his group’s designated driver for the night. Manthe, a 2014 graduate of Marshfield High School, was on his way home when a drunk driver crossed the centerline and collided with Manthe’s vehicle. He was pronounced dead just hours later at St Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. While at Marshfield Senior High, Tyler was a 4-year letter winner on the school’s wrestling team. In memory of Tyler, his parents, Cory and Gidget Tobin, gave a $600 donation to the school for the wrestling club. They have also created a $500 scholarship that will be awarded to a Marshfield Senior High senior wrestler that has chosen their college for 2018.
Thank YOU for tuning in. Check back next week for more On Focus news.
