Memorial Day Parade

Parade starts at 9:30 am
Hosted by the Marshfield Veterans Council, the annual Memorial Day Parade is a poignant dedication to the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives for their country.
More than 1700 American flags will adorn the graves of veterans beginning Saturday, in preparation for Monday’s event.
Placed there by veterans and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the community, these flags are just part of the services to take place. The parade begins at 9:30am by St. John’s Catholic Church on Chestnut Avenue and will proceed up Blodgett Street and finish at the cemetery across from St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Residents young and old are encouraged to view the parade and then stay for a special Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery’s Flander’s field.
“A wreath will be laid and a flower will be placed for each war,” said Vietnam War Veteran and First District Alderman Mike Feirer.
Following the ceremony, the procession will host another ceremony at Brooklawn Cemetery on Highway 80 south of Marshfield. Following that ceremony, a fellowship luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall in Marshfield, sponsored by the VFW. All are invited to attend.
“The participation is getting better,” said Feirer. “The parade is now getting quite an attendance.”
