Marshfield volleyball wins two of three at WVC meet

MERRILL – The Marshfield volleyball team won two of three matches at the second Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet of the season on Saturday at Merrill High School.

Marshfield lost to first-place Stevens Point 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-20), before coming back to beat Wausau East 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-19) and Wisconsin Rapids 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 26-24).

Marshfield is now 4-7 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference this season and will finish its regular-season and conference schedule at Wausau West on Thursday.

Karly Nikolai had 46 kills, and Lindsey Steffen added 32 kills and 43 digs for the Tigers in their three matches.

Taylor Barwick led Marshfield with 72 assists, Bailey Matis had 48 assists, Kaydee Johnson had 58 digs, and Kati Sadowska had 13 service aces for Marshfield.
