Marshfield School District Hires New Superintendent

The Marshfield Board of Education held a special meeting on Wednesday and voted 7-0 to hire Dr. Ryan Christianson as the new Superintendent of the Marshfield School District to replace Dr. Dee Wells, who is retiring.

Dr. Christianson is the Director of Human Resources for the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools, where he has served as a school administrator for a total of 15 years. Before taking on his current role as the Director of Human Resources, Dr. Christianson was an associate principal for five years ahead of serving as the Principal of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School from 2008 to 2012. Prior to his work as a school administrator in Wisconsin Rapids, Dr. Christianson taught science for seven years in the School District of Marshfield from 1996 to 2003, where he also served as science department chair for five years. A former Advanced Placement (AP) teacher and past AP coordinator, Dr. Christianson now functions as an AP consultant for the College Board presenting workshops to administrators on the topic of “Building an AP Program.” He is also a member of the Wisconsin AP Advisory Council.

He has a strong background in the operations of a district of our size, a loyalty to education in Central Wisconsin, and our vetting process indicates that he is a man of integrity. With his continual improvement, focus, and collaborative style, we have confidence that he will foster educational excellence for all our students.”

Dr. Christianson will start his new position on July 1st.
