MAPS Breakfast Raises Funds for Shelter Operations

Marshfield Area Pet Shelter moved to the Holiday Inn for its popular 7th annual “Paws & Pancakes” breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, February 25th, which previously broke attendance records at the now-closed Knights of Columbus Hall.

Despite icy weather, a total of 818 people enjoyed a delicious breakfast, fun raffles, and other great opportunities to help local animals. The event was sponsored by Thrivent Financial, Catholic Financial Life, and Bushman Dairy.

“We are really pleased with the results of this year’s fundraiser,” said MAPS President Karen Rau. “Despite the inclement weather the night before and the change in venue this year, 818 in attendance is outstanding!

Comments were made by attendees on the great food, organization, and nice atmosphere, according to Rau.

“The event required about 50 MAPS volunteers so to hear we were organized at a new location is a credit to those incredible volunteers and the Holiday Inn staff,” she said. ““This event is especially fun for me because it is like a great big family reunion. I get to see many of our wonderful volunteers and also talk with a lot of our generous donors and supporters. I look forward to seeing everyone and possibly making a new connection or two within our community at this event. It’s a really great experience.”

The breakfast raised an estimated $10,500 to help MAPS with the day-to-day operating costs for the animals at their adoption center and temporary shelter locations.
