Lucas Linzmeier Receives Full Scholarship to Princeton Through QuestBridge

MHS Senior to Attend Ivy League University

Submitted to FOCUS – Marshfield High School senior, Lucas Linzmeier, has been admitted to Princeton University located in Princeton, New Jersey. He has been awarded a full, four-year QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship.

On receiving news of the scholarship, Lucas said, “I am incredibly grateful to have received this scholarship, and plan to use this opportunity to create a better future.”

Lucas has approached his education at MHS with tenacity. Through his diligent work in the AP Program, Lucas earned AP Scholar with Distinction recognition which also has propelled him into the top 10% of his competitive senior class.

In addition, he works part time at the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, and as the oldest of seven, finds time to care for his younger siblings. Teachers describe Lucas as a leader in the classroom, and as someone with “limitless potential.”

With the educational foundation he has built at MHS, combined with his academic ambition, Lucas is poised to experience succes at Princeton University where he hopes to explore research-based physics.

Lucas’s accomplishments are impressive, especially given the context of this year’s application cycle. The 2017-18 QuestBridge National College Match received 15,606 applications, an all-time high. After a first round selection of 5,759 Finalists, 918 students were ultimately selected by colleges to become College Matches.

QuestBridge, a national nonprofit based in Palo Alto, California, connects the nation’s most exceptional, low-income youth with leading institutions of higher education and further life opportunities. By recruiting, developing, and motivating these students — beginning in high school through college to their early career — QuestBridge aims help talented low-income students attend the nation’s best colleges and to support them to achieve success in their respective careers and communities.
