Held Hostage by Heroin: Community Resource Guide

A Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach and Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth column

Submitted to FOCUS – Often when someone or a loved one is affected by a substance use disorder and are looking for help, it can be overwhelming. Where does one start? In 2015, Marshfield Clinic and Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth in collaboration with Wood County Health Department and Healthy People Wood County developed a guide. This guide details Wood County, Wisconsin and national alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health resources, which is updated on a regular basis as information changes quickly. The information provided may not be inclusive of all resources, but can be a starting point to support those in need.

The MACY Drug Task Force also developed a brochure listing Marshfield prescription drug abuse and heroin use resources detailing Wood County Human Services resources, support groups and counseling services. The brochure and guide can be found online at www.marshfield4youth.org and hardcopies are available upon request.

Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth (MACY) is working to make Marshfield the best place to raise a family. MACY’s Drug Task Force is striving to reduce and prevention prescription drug abuse and heroin use. MACY is supported by Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach and more than 200 members representing over 40 organizations in Marshfield.
