Marshfield School Forest is getting spruced up.

For his Eagle Scout project, sophomore Lee Wittman, 15, stained the benches surrounding the fire ring at the forest and added fresh paint to the entrance sign on County Highway N.

“I chose this project because of my fond memories of going to the school forest in grade school, and I wanted to give back to the community so that other students and the public could also enjoy School Forest,” Wittman said.

The work required power washing and then sanding the sign and benches. Rice’s Capitol Carpet LLC donated the stain, paint, t-shirts and paint brushes, working alongside Wittman to review the best paint practices and application techniques. Rice’s Kody Wilson took paint chips from the benches to create a color match.

“We carry a full line of Benjamin Moore paint and stains; the yellow letting was our Benjamin Moore Regal paint and the stain is the Benjamin Moore Arborcoat,” said Rebecca Mather, General Manager.

Wittman’s family, friends, their parents, and other scouts in his troop, #382, helped with the project. Although he is not finished with all of the Eagle Scout requirements, he hopes to be completed in a few months.
