WINNECONNE – The Auburndale girls cross country team had three top-30 finishes to place third in the Small Division at the 29-team Oshkosh Lourdes Invitational on Saturday at Lake Breeze Golf Course.
Auburndale had 136 points, 15 behind second-place Winneconne. Freedom won the girls team title with 74 points and also took the boys team title with 100 points, 12 ahead of Rosholt. The Auburndale boys had just three runners and did not have a complete team.
Isabella Jewell was Auburndale’s top finisher, taking 19th in 20:51.76. Teammate McKenna Zieher, a freshman was just behind in 20:55.28 to take 21st. Macie Schmeiser was 28th in 21:22.80.
Meygan Benzing of Dodgeland was the girls winner in 19:21.82 and Rosholt’s Adam Rzentkowski won the boys race in 15:41.39.
Carl Lundgren was the only Auburndale runner to finish in the top 100 in the boys race, taking 39th in 18:04.82.
Auburndale will compete at the Edgar Invitational at Nine Mile Recreation Area in Rib Mountain on Tuesday.
