The community fundraising campaign for the Marshfield Community Athletic Facilities is getting closer to its $7 million goal with the help of 100 Extraordinary Women, a national concept with the idea that women banding together in their communities can accomplish great things.

With the goal of finding 100 women to pledge $1,000 toward the complex, 100 Extraordinary Women campaign chairs reached out to the community and came back with 137 donors, meaning $6.2 million is pledged toward the future facility after just a year of campaigning. Each woman will have her name or someone she would like to honor commemorated in the new stadium’s donor area.

Rachel Zaleski, part of Zaleski Sports Show with husband Jason, became number 138 of the community of women pledging their support. As a public follower of local sports, it may come as no surprise that the athletic complex is close to their hearts. “We don’t have kids in system anymore, but we do believe it’s a healthy alternative for kids to have sports after school instead of getting in trouble,” she said. “We just wanted to give back to the community and support strong leadership.”

Women who would like to become involved can contact Marshfield Area Community Foundation or get in touch with campaign chairs Ann Boson or Kendra Haessly. A 100 Extraordinary Women banquet to recognize contributors will be held at RiverEdge Banquet Hall on September 12 at 5:30 p.m for those who pledge support by August 31. The campaign will continue through the end of the year.
